Hello,
It’s time for your first challenge!
For this challenge, you will be learning a bit about networking on a computer. It may seem like a complicated topic, but I know you’re up for it!
Part 1: Tell me what your computer’s private IP address is.
– Take a screenshot and include it in your email answer.
Part 2: Tell me what your public IP address is.
– Take a screenshot and include it in your email answer.
Part 3: Email me and tell me what you know about IP addresses. You may use any information that you find on the internet. Keep this one simple, though… it’s easy to find websites that explain the math behind this. All I want to know is what it’s used for, and anything else that you’d like to include.
For these two parts, I will give you a couple of hints. You will be using Windows for this, and there are quite a few ways to find this information using Windows.
HINT: You can use your command prompt, or PowerShell, or the Graphic User Interface (GUI). You should be able to google how to do this, but DO NOT download any programs that say they will help… you won’t need to download anything to finish this challenge.
HINT: For part 2, you will definitely need to use a browser. There are two great ways to find this out through a browser. The first is to google the words ‘what is my ip’ and see what it tells you. The second is to use a website such as https://www.ipchicken.com/
